Senior Manager - Health Economics
Ian Jacob joined HEOR as Senior Manager – Health Economics in 2018, having previously held the role of Principal Health Economist in a consultancy heading up both the health economics and real-world evidence business functions. Ian’s primary role at HEOR is to ensure that the design, implementation, and delivery of our research programmes are of the highest quality. Ian also holds the position of Honorary Lecturer in Health Economics at the University of Chester, UK.
Previously, Ian held positions at the Manchester Centre for Health Economics (MCHE) at The University of Manchester where he held the following concurrent appointments: Advisor – National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Design Service (RDS) covering the North-West of England; Economics Advisor – Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) – Greater Manchester; and Research Associate in Health Economics at MCHE.
While at the University of Manchester, Ian’s combined collaborative grant income exceeded £1 million. Before joining the University of Manchester, Ian started his career in health economics at GlaxoSmithKline, Dublin; working on his first oncology reimbursement submission. Since then, Ian has gained experience across a broad range of disease areas including: inflammation, hepatology, cardiovascular, obesity, diagnostic technologies, medical devices, cancer screening, genetic testing. Ian has a highly specialised skill set in health economics design-analytic modelling and the design and analysis of observational studies. Ian is a graduate of the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and the University of Sheffield, School of Health and Related Studies (ScHARR).
