Value and Access Director, MSc
Nick Bruce has more than 30 years’ experience in Market Access gained from working in the UK National Health Service, the pharmaceutical industry and consultancy. Nick joined HEOR in January 2020, to enhance their Market Access service offering and leadership capability. His Market Access experience spans the whole product lifecycle, from clinical development, through pre-launch planning and national HTA submissions to post-launch market expansion activities.
Nick started his career as a health economist and commissioner in the NHS in London, during which time he also held an honorary lectureship in Health Economics at St George’s Hospital Medical School. He joined Pfizer in 1998 to set up its Market Access function and over a twenty year pharmaceutical industry career, held positions of increasing responsibility covering Market Access, Government Affairs, Communications and Patient Advocacy.
Nick has extensive brand and corporate commercial experience including ten years on Pfizer and Amgen UK Leadership Teams. He has a track record in influencing national policy, leading strategic initiatives related to the conduct of health technology assessment. Nick is also a former member of the ABPI Board of Management.
Nick has successfully led over 150 submissions to national decision-making bodies while working within the pharmaceutical industry and consultancy. He is a former member and Lead Assessor of the Scottish Medicines Consortium New Drugs Committee, participating in over 300 appraisals of new medicines. He has worked on numerous therapeutic areas and types of innovation including orphan medicines, rare diseases, and novel gene therapies.
Nick completed his MSc in Applied Stochastic Systems at University College London, following on from a BSc in Economics at the same institution.
