1. Please give an overview of your role at HEOR?
2. What first attracted you to work in this field?
I have a PhD in epidemiology, and have a strong background and interest in mathematics and statistics. I decided to move into consulting after a longstanding and successful career in academia – I wanted to stay in science, but move into a fast-paced team environment which encompassed more variety in methodological approaches, disease areas, and scientific solutions/challenges.
3. What motivated you to join HEOR?
I was attracted to the world-class calibre and variety in academic, scientific and analytical experience within the company. I’ve coined this “Academic quality, at industry speed”
4. What is your greatest achievement at work since
joining HEOR?
I’d say my largest achievement so far is changing industry and quickly learning about the pharmaceutical product lifecycle, and applications of methods that I was unfamiliar with before, like machine learning, or multi-level network meta-regression. Another huge achievement has been supporting the team to produce high quality work and fostering a positive working environment.
5. How do you think your team works best for the client?
We offer gold-standard and cutting edge expertise in statistics, analytics, trials and real-world data. We work best for the client in a technical consulting scenario, for example, where there is a complicated research challenge which requires novel statistical and analytical solutions.
6. How would you best describe the HEOR culture?
Caring and motivated.
7. How would you describe what you do, to people who
may not have heard of market access / HEOR sector?
We provide our clients (who are usually pharmaceutical/biotech companies, and sometimes charities) with technical solutions to help them develop and test their treatments, and understand their patients and treatment pathways.
8. What is your favourite thing to do when you’re
not working?
Hang out with my husband, son and doggy – usually running and playing around outside, or cosy snuggle time at home with a good movie.
